Andrea Clearfield is an award winning American composer of concert music. She has composed for The Philadelphia Orchestra and has written 7 cantatas including Women of Valor (on Biblical women) and The Golem Psalms (on the Golem of Prague to texts by Ellen Frankel). She teaches at The University of the Arts and is the host, producer and founder of the Philadelphia Salon concert series since 1986.

The Golem Psalms is a choral cantata based on the 16th Century legend of the Golem of Prague. The work was commissioned and premiered in 2006 by The Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia with Sanford Sylvan, baritone and The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Alan Harler, conductor. Dr. Andrea Clearfield will discuss the creative process in composing the work and her collaboration with librettist Dr Ellen Frankel.
