Do We Really Do Tzedakah?
Modern Philanthropy and Jewish Values

Marc Wolf

Identity & Responsibility, Social Justice, Text & Thought

Jewish communities use the term tzedakah to define all sorts of philanthropic giving. Is our support of the litany of causes that cross our in-boxes really tzedakah? Through a study of the classical sources on Jewish giving, we will explore what it means to give tzedakah—and maybe learn something about how we give.
