Julia Katz

Julia Katz grew up in West Hartford CT. She started singing at a very young age, and went on to major in voice at The Greater Hartford Academy for the Arts, a half day magnet high school. Her love for singing led her to an undergraduate career at New England Conservatory in Boston, where she majored in classical voice. In the two years after graduating from NEC and before enrolling at Hebrew Union College, Julia remained in Boston, teaching at a synagogue preschool, and studying Hebrew. She currently leads Tot Shabbat services at Bnai Jeshurun and tutors Bnai Mitzvah at Temple Shaaray Tefilah, both in Manhattan. She also serves Temple Adas Israel in Sag Harbor as a student cantor. Ms. Katz is a fourth year cantorial student at HUC.

Reform Shabbat Morning Service

Julia Katz, Marc Katz

Ritual, Prayer & Spirituality, Shabbat

Join us for a musical and participatory service led by a team of rabbinic and cantorial students from Hebrew Union College, including Marc and Julia Katz. We will be using the Reform Movement's siddur (Mishkan Tefillah). The service will include guitar and other instrumentation and a mixture of Hebrew prayers and English poetic readings. All are invited to participate! Note: There will be musical instruments and mixed-gender seating.
