Making Meaning

Identity and Practice in Contemporary Jewish Art

Arts & Performance, Identity & Responsibility, Ritual, Prayer & Spirituality, Text & Thought

Art can explore the space between the letters on the page where revelation continuously transpires. Join working artist Sarah Young to explore interpretation of Jewish rituals and practice and visualizations of sacred text in her work. Taking ownership of and sometimes literally embodying Jewish sources through object-making and performance, utilizing themes of gender and the body, Sarah's work carves the space for an active and engaged dialogue with halacha (Jewish law). Come join the conversation!
