Rebeca Madrigal

Rebeca Madrigal is a first grade dual language teacher on New York's Upper West Side. She is pursuing her Doctoral degree in Bilingual Education at Columbia University and has presented nationwide on multicultural education issues. Her experience as a Mexican immigrant and educator has been the focus of several academic and news articles. She has been a participant in Limmud NY for the past six years.

Identity & Global Culture

Whether interfaith, intermarried, or interracial, there are issues that are common for all intercouples or interfamilies. This session is an interactive guided discussion where participants will delve into the issues and share stories, questions, and solutions for the new Jewish family. Topics include identity and fitting in, dealing with family and friends, weddings, family rituals/holidays, joining a community, education (religious, cultural, and language), the role of grandparents, and more.
