Liz Nord is a filmmaker and TV producer. She is currently directing the documentary film “Battle for Jerusalem” and multimedia project, “Jerusalem Unfiltered.” Her first film, “Jericho’s Echo: Punk Rock in the Holy Land,” has been viewed by an estimated 100,000 people worldwide. In 2008, Nord ran MTV’s Emmy Award-winning presidential election coverage. She has produced and exhibited work worldwide for clients such as PBS Frontline World, Wycelf Jean’s NGO Yéle Haiti, JTA and Tablet Magazine.

Women’s rights have become one of the major issues in Israel’s social upheaval that began with the tent protests this past summer. While some ultra-Orthodox Jews push for gender segregation in public spaces from buses to sidewalks, women across the country are standing up for their equal rights. Join a panel discussion about the implications of this growing issue for Israel’s future and learn about citizens who are working on it presently.

Join us for a screening of selected clips from the critically acclaimed documentary, “Jericho's Echo: Punk Rock in the Holy Land”, followed by a Q & A with director Liz Nord. In Jericho’s Echo, rebellious Israeli youth take up the arms of loud guitars and mohawks in the most politically charged area of the world and we see how these well-spoken and outspoken kids deal with the complexities of coming-of-age in Israel.
