Shift Happens: Space, Quantity, Intentionality

Using The Kabbalistic Paradigm: Olam, Shana, Nefesh

David Ingber, Joe Septimus

Spirituality & Mindfulness, Text & Thought

The kabbalist’s (Jewish mystic's) reality consists of three dimensions: space (infinity), time (quantity) and intentionality (consciousness), all of which are potentially holy. We will learn traditional applications of this concept and explore new frontiers of applicability. We will study rabbinic texts and their practical application in ritual (such as Chanukah candle lighting), prayer relationships, and life planning. We will explore the dynamic relationships and conflicts that arise among the three dimensions.

Revealed and Concealed: The Silence in Our Narrative

The Presence of the Silent, Absent, Empty, and Lost

Spirituality & Mindfulness, Text & Thought

Our personal and classical narratives, the stories of our lives, possess more than we are willing or able to show or speak. We will explore the presence of silence, absence, the hidden, emptiness and loss in Torah, Talmud, Kabbalah (mysticism), psychotherapy, art, architecture, education, and business. We will use Talmud, siddur (prayer book), painting, photography, narrative, and audited financial statements as text.
