Participatory Shabbat Service
Lisa Barrett,
Asa Fradkin
Freedom is difficult to obtain, and as the Israelites and others after them have found, it is even more difficult to live as a free people. Join in Shabbat prayer and discussion of themes of liberation and redemption from this week's Torah portion and the Jewish liturgy. This egalitarian service will be filled with lively tunes and lively discussion. We will use traditional liturgy but abbreviate the service and Torah reading a bit, so our joyful prayer can be combined with an extended exploration of this week's rich Torah portion.
Mincha/Ma'ariv Meditation Service
Lisa Barrett,
Asa Fradkin
We will experience Mincha and Ma'ariv through several meditative practices, including kirtan (a song-like chant in a call and response style) and kriyah kedoshah (a meditative activity focused on a text).
Alternative Morning Prayer: Contemplative Minyan
Awaken your soul in this alternative service. We will use movement, meditation, chanting, poetry and periods of silence to move through an outline of the morning prayer. As our song rises, so will our hearts open to G-d, to each other and to the beauty of a new day.
