Alternative Morning Prayer

The siddur is filled with references to trees, air, mountains, rocks, and other parts of the natural world. In prayers designed to connect us to God, why is there so much nature? In this participatory, fun service, we'll explore the inherent connection between the words we pray, the air we breathe, and the world we live in. Full of song, story, breath, and nature. Please bring warm clothes for an optional excursion outside if the spirit moves us. Come let the words of Torah and the beauty of nature give you a beautiful beginning to a new day.

Public Speaking for Jewish Leaders:

Are you a teacher who constantly struggles to hold everyone's attention?

Do you find it hard to compete with ipods, cell phones, TV, and the web? Do you want techniques guaranteed to keep your audience focused on the message you have to give? How do those mega-millionaire speakers in the public speaking industry do it? What tricks do they use? From body language to specific wardrobe colors to intonation and more, every detail affects how your message is received. Enter their world and come away with techniques guaranteed to boost your speaking power.

Musical Service for Kabbalat Shabbat and Ma'ariv

Welcoming Shabbat

Alyssa Frank, Ilan Glazer

Since days of old, music has been a foundation of Jewish prayer. Psalm 150 praises God with drums, flute, violin, and cymbals. Join us for an inspiring, participatory musical service that brings ancient prayers to life with the help of guitar, drums, and other instruments. We’ll pray the full Friday night service to Shlomo Carlebach, Debbie Friedman, gospel, and klezmer tunes. ** This session will include musical instruments.

The Art of the Maggid:

Have you ever heard a story that's changed your life?

Have you ever told a story that's changed someone else’s? Come and hear inspiring stories from the world's newest Maggid (Story-teller)! Join Ilan on a round-the-world adventure of his favorite stories and learn techniques to become an empowering storyteller! Learn how to bring out the story within you and use it to empower and inspire others. You, too, can become a Maggid - let Ilan show you how!
