Gustavo Gitlin

Gustavo Gitlin is the cantor of Congregation Tifereth Israel in Glen Cove, New York. Over the years, Gustavo has developed an extensive repertoire and is always learning new approaches and ways of singing for religious services. He is especially skilled at bringing people together and offering them meaningful musical spiritual experiences.

Welcome Shabbat with a Latin-American lilt, and continue into Ma’ariv with inspired prayer and song. The traditional egalitarian service will feature spirited singing of liturgy from the traditional prayerbook, with leadership and participation by both men and women. (No amplification; Mixed gender seating)

Hola! When we think of introducing new tunes in our shul, we tend to stay close to home, focusing on local, North American music. Have you ever looked down the map? In Latin America, there is a wonderful and vibrant way of davening (praying) Hebrew prayers with a Latin lilt. Come and hear what is being sung in communities across Latin America.
