Sarah Zarrow is an MA candidate in Jewish Education at the Jewish Theological Seminary. A child of intermarried parents, she decided to officially convert to Judaism last year. This is her second year at Limmud NY.

In this session, we will look at the various terms used to describe people who convert to Judaism. What do these terms imply, and are they useful to us today? Why are certain terms used, and why have new terms (like “Jew by choice”) gained currency in recent years? Are there other terms that we could use? Jews of all backgrounds, whether with personal experiences in the area or not, are encouraged to attend. All texts will be available in English translation.
