Benjamin Shalva is the proud parent of Lev Shalva and the lucky husband of Sara Shalva. He is a fifth-year rabbinical student at the Jewish Theological Seminary majoring in Talmud. He has been a musician and actor since the age of six, and is thankful to God for the opportunity to combine his love of art and performance with his love of Torah.

Musical Midrash: Their Stories, Their Songs

Arts and Performance, Text and Thought

Listen to a series of original midrashic (based in commentary) folk songs that explore the lives and stories of heroes from the Torah. After the music, we will discuss the images raised in these songs and the potential of music and other art forms to deepen our experience of Torah.
