Karra Greenberg is a second year PhD student in Sociology at UCLA. She is currently doing a quantitative and qualitative research project to understand the changing demographics of countries across Europe as well as the American Jewish community, as they particularly relate to individuals marrying later in life, or not at all. She has always enjoyed being an active member of the Jewish community.

Marrying Late or Never: Jewish Permutations

American Jews are no exception to the Second Demographic Transition -- the phenomenon in which individuals around the world are marrying later in life, increasingly not marrying, and having fewer children. In fact, demographers note that American Jews are leading some of these trends. However, research to date has not explored why this is so, or how it particularly effects our lives as Jews.
