Bullseye: Storahtelling and Hard Jewish Questions

Storahtelling creates access to Jewish sacred texts by reviving the ancient tradition of the Meturgeman, the local translator/storyteller. This workshop focuses in on the first step in creating a Storahtelling program, the 'bullseye' –- to think about difficult questions the Torah elicits for contemporary Jews. We will explore the theory and method behind a Storahtelling program, and then walk through the process of comparative translation ourselves by identifying our own 'bullseyes.'

We will prepare and present various offerings, such as a niggun to teach the group, a humorous Jewish short story, a tale from Jewish mythology, a Yiddish or Ladino song, and a short ethical teaching.
