Lorin Fife

Lorin Fife, a recovering attorney and an accomplished artist, serves as Board Chair of LA's Jewish Community Foundation. After sleeping and eating on Jewish Agency furniture as a young man in Israel, he now serves on its Board of Governors and has co-chaired the Israel and Overseas Committee of LA's Federation, as well as its renowned Tel Aviv-LA. Partnership. An Annapolis graduate and a Wexner alum who went through both Orthodox and Reform conversions, Lorin also served as President of his Conservative congregation, Adat Ari El. Prior to retiring, he served as a senior executive at SunAmerica Inc., as an attorney at O'Melveny & Myers, and as a waiter at the Tel Aviv Sheraton.

This session will explore the unique journeys and viewpoints of Jews by choice who have become leaders within our community. The conversation will try to link the personal stories of these Jews who have moved beyond simply joining the tribe to helping to define the Jewish mission for the future. What are the values they bring to their work from Jewish and non-Jewish sources? And how do their unique perspectives inform their approach to building community and leadership?
