Eric Greene

Eric Greene is the Senior Policy Advisor at ACLU of Southern California and a respected writer of cultural criticism. His first book, Planet of the Apes as American Myth: Race, Politics and Popular Culture, was recently deemed a “classic” by the Los Angles Times. Eric attended Wesleyan University and Stanford Law School and studied at the Pardes and Yakar institutes in Jerusalem. Eric is a former vice president of the Progressive Jewish Alliance and serves on its Southern California Regional Council.

This session will seek to educate the larger Jewish community about the experience of being a Jew of Color within a predominantly Ashkenazi world. Specific issues to be discussed include, but will not be limited to, dating/marriage, identification, stereotypes/racism within the Jewish community and others.
