Behind Closed Doors: What it Takes to Maintain Growing and Thriving Jewish Institutions in a Complex Political Environment
- Monday 8:30 AM–9:45 AM Emerald Bay 2
Our synagogues, museums, schools, and cultural institutions spend millions of dollars during their planning processes to expand and allow for additional capacity, activities, and programs. We are often uninformed of what occurs behind the scene as our Jewish institutions maneuver through the complex political process. Briefly learn about the planning process and how it is interwoven with the political system in Los Angeles. This session is interactive, with participants working together in small groups as they evaluate example case studies. Best and worst practices are identified. Methods are discussed for participation in the process and for influence. Gain knowledge of how to work within the existing political framework for the maintenance and growth of Jewish cultural, educational and religious institutions.
