Bruce is a lawyer with Sparkman Perlick Shaffer LLP, and an editor/agent for freelance writers & presenters. He has been on 3 ENCOUNTER programs in Bethlehem and NYC, and will be studying at Pardes in Jerusalem in 2011
The Changing Landscape of American-Israeli Politics

This workshop explores American-Israeli politics from three different perspectives in a panel format. First, Zach Levey will analyze the emerging relationship between the Obama Administration and the current Israeli government. Next, Caryn Aviv will survey how American Jews are 'changing the conversation' about their relationships to Israel through the emergence of non-profit educational and lobbying/advocacy organizations. Finally, we will hear from Bruce Shaffer, who will share his personal experiences and reflections about his participation in Encounter Programs, an educational group that brings Jews from around the world to Israel and the West Bank for dialogue with Palestinians.
