Ages and Stages

Family & Intergenerational, Jewish Education, Teens

In chapter 5, verse 25 of Pirket Avot, Yehuda ben Tema explores what ages are appropriate for different Jewish life cycle stages. Today we will look at that text, explore more relevant activities in our lives today, and when they should/do happen. Parents and students will first work in parallel. Then we will come together as a group, and compare our decisions. A lively discussion will ensue! This session is ideal for ages 8-12 and a parent.

Our Names

Family & Intergenerational, Identity & Responsibility, Teens

What is your Hebrew/English name? Where did it come from? How do we present ourselves in when being called to the Torah? What is meant when we talk about "a good name"? We will use a variety of activities to explore these ideas together in family units, playing a ball game, and exploring some Torah Texts where names change. Bring a parent or grandparent and let's have some fun!
