Joshua Fixler is the Spiritual Youth for Reproductive Freedom (SYRF) Program Coordinator at the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC). SYRF works to educate, organize, and empower youth and young adults to advocate for reproductive justice in a pro-faith context. Josh is also an associate with JFFixler & Associates, where he serves as design consultant and the specialist on presentation design, Web 2.0, and social networking.

Throughout their history, Jews have conceptualized heroes and heroism in ways that have made them unique among their neighbors. The Jewish hero is distinctively brave and flawed. We will look at various pieces of Jewish literature to see how this hero concept has manifested itself. We will also discuss that the impact that this archetype has had on American mythologies and popular culture.
