Rabbi Mel Glazer is the Rabbi of Temple Shalom in Colorado Springs, CO. He was ordained at JTS in New York City, and he received his D.Min. degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1995. He is the author of “When Death Visits A Jewish Home: 99 Actions For Mourners” and "And God Created Hope." His mission is to teach the world what he knows about loss, grief, and hope.

What to say and what not to say, when someone dies

Our society teaches us how to acquire friends, acquaintances and things, but not how to lose them. When someone dies, we hardly know what to say. People too often say the wrong things because they just don't know the right words. We will discuss "negative grief language," what we should never say to mourners, and "positive grief language," what we should say to mourners.
