Personalizing my Physical life
2 Jewish approaches to our bodies
Jewish Education,
Text & Thought
Our organization, Ayeka, offers a 10-session module for adults on personal and spiritual growth. We focus on moments in a typical day. Together we will examine 2 midrashim reflecting 2 different approaches to the human body. Sometimes God is not hidden far away, sometimes God is hidden very close by. We will then use experiential exercises to help bring these ideas from our minds to our hearts.
Personalizing my Spiritual Life
Rav Kook's Understanding of the Soul
Jewish Education,
Text & Thought
Spirituality seems to be a universal "buzz" word today -- but is there a Jewish approach to spirituality? What is the soul and what does it do according to Jewish thought? I avoided this subject until I encountered the writings of Rav Kook, a modern mystic and thinker. Twenty-five years ago these ideas changed my life and they continue to impact it till this day. We will examine his creative approach.
Personalizing my Prayer Life
Ritual & Prayer,
Text & Thought
It seems that most people struggle with prayer. My struggles urged me to look for different models of Jewish prayer, which brought me to writing the Godfile: 10 approaches to personalizing prayer. We will focus on my personal favorite, Rabbi Dr. Eliezer Berkovitz. We will study a beautiful section of his writings and try to personalize his unique and creative approach. Appropriate for all levels.

Text & Thought
Some of the world’s leading Jewish minds choose the text that is most meaningful to them, one that touches the soul, a piece they return to regularly, something fundamental to their Jewish identity. In 20 minutes they teach and explain their choice. Will it be Torah, Midrash, or Gemara? A painting, a poem, a song lyric? Or something unexpected?
