The Jewish Counterculture

Freedom Riders or Fundamentalists?

Identity & Responsibility, Text & Thought

Through a survey of some key texts, we will take a close look at what Jews who were involved in the 60s counterculture were saying about themselves, their American context, their Jewish identities, and their values. Were they advocating for a "free Jewish" approach in a way that follows the other "Frees" (love, speech, etc.), or was their position on things Jewish something less radical?
